New Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Ms Aishath Azeema Presents Credentials to President Xi Jinping

Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the People’s Republic of China, H.E.Ms Aishath Azeema presented credentials to President Xi Jinping today at the Great Hall of the People.

The ceremony was attended by State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E.Mr.Wang Yi, Chief of Protocol Mr. Hong Lei and Chief of Asia Department Mr. Wu Jianghao.

The ceremony was also attended by Ms. Fathimath Liusha, Second Secretary and Mr. Hussain Abdul Latheef, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives in Beijing

President appoints two Ambassadors

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today accredited Ms Aishath Azeema and Mr Mohamed Khaleel to serve as the Maldives’ ambassadors to the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia respectively. The accreditation ceremony, in which both ambassador-designates were presented their letters of appointment, was held at the President’s Office, this afternoon.

Ms Aishath Azeema previously served as deputy ambassador of the Maldives to the United Kingdom in London, and in various senior capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as an Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary.

Mr Mohamed Khaleel has previously served as the Maldives the High Commissioner and Acting High Commissioner to Singapore. He attained his Diploma of Environmental Law and Policy at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India.

China-aid Renovation Project of MFA Office Building was inaugurated today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E Abdulla Shahid and Ambassador of #China to Maldives H.E Zhang

According to Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Zhang Lizhong, the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge project follows the principle of “Construction, Contribution and Shared Benefits” as a Belt and Road Initiative program constructed jointly by Chinese Maldivian sides. The program brings new vigor and vitality into the development of China-Maldives relations.
