
Ambassador of China to the Maldives, Her Excellency Ms. Wang Lixin called on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, today following the presentation of Credentials to His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the morning.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State Ahmed Khaleel congratulated the Ambassador on the presentation of credentials to the President, and expressed confidence that the bilateral ties between the Maldives and China will continue to prosper during her tenure.
State Minister conveyed his appreciation for the continuous support and assistance provided to the people of the Maldives by the Government of China, highlighting in particular the valuable support extended by the Government of China to the economic development of the Maldives.
State Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Lixin discussed ways to further strengthen the strong bilateral ties between the two countries. Both State Minister and Ambassador noted that next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries and look forward to commemorate jointly in both Male and also in Beijing.
Ambassador Lixin expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome she received and stated that she is determined to further enhance bilateral relations between China and Maldives.
Ambassador Wang Lixin is the first female Resident Ambassador from China to the Maldives, who takes over from His Excellency Zhang Lizhong who served as the previous Ambassador of China in the Maldives from August 2017 to April 2021.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Javed Faizal, Additional Secretary, Fathimath Naeema, Executive Director and Fathimath Liusha, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
